Why "Sturgman"?

Well, I got the nickname because I'm either really lucky, or pretty good at catching the Giant White Sturgeon on the Snake River. These fish range from 1'-2' babies to 12 feet+. The biggest sturgeon I've caught was 12 feet long and was probably 80+ years old. All these fish are catch and release, and some have been caught so many times we've named them. These giants are amazing and will give you a workout. I have a lot of sturgeon fishing stories. My wife's favorite is of course the one where I made her lose the biggest fish she'd ever had on. Another one is when I reeled in a 2' baby only to find that I had lassoed it. That's when I became the "sturg cowboy."

The Fishing Honeymoon

In August my wife and I honeymooned in Alaska at Alegnagik Island Lodge. I knew when she agreed to a fishing honeymoon that she was a "keeper." We had an awesome week on the Nushigak river and the tributaries around the lodge. We're heading back up that way in 2010. I can't get enough of those kings, and my wife is on a mission for grayling. Here are some pics.
